Diary of a KX Detoxer | Jadis | Day Three
Today has been billed as the toughest day in the programme but so far the comments from colleagues and KX staff is about how ‘bright’ I seem. I’ve had no headaches, mood swings or real hunger pains and am actually feeling really good. Perhaps it’s my previous experience with juice cleanses or a brief flirtation with the 5:2 diet that relies on intermittent fasting that has made me more aware than some going in to this process. It could also be that my goals [link to day 1 post] for the detox are centred around ‘reseting’ my system rather than a final weight loss push….though of course losing a bit of weight would be a great bonus!
I think my current state is actually down to the fact that this detox has been tailored so individually to my needs. The is also a very engaged team across fitness, nutrition and complementary therapies who are supporting me through the process. THAT is the difference with this cleanse. I’ve never felt that I’m going it alone which is very much the case with other cleanse programmes you can buy online or follow from the numerous clean eating books.
To aid the detox process I’m spent time at the spa today for a Manual Lymphatic Drainage treatment. As I’ve not had this treatment before Corinne immediately put me at ease by talking me through the benefits as well as the process itself which is very different to my normal deep tissue massage.
We’ve all heard less is more and that certainly is the case with MLD. The light rhythmic movements are relaxing but I must admit, I questioned what effect they would have. To my surprise, about an hour after the treatment my body felt as if it had a standard full body massage! Corrine is clearly a skilled practitioner and I was pleased to have had the experience of MLD as part of my detox.
In the treatment, Corrine also mentioned that MLD can help with hay fever. I’ve had success with naturopathy in the past but as I’m sure my fellow sufferers would agree, it’s always great to have another weapon against pollen in the arsenal.
The experience with MLD also reminded my of a Muscle Activation Technique session I had with Travis. It was a very precise treatment using pressure points to reengage the muscles just as MLD seeks to reengage the lymphatic system. I am always impressed by the expertise of the KX staff and the ability to experience the very best in holistic wellbeing.
Corrine also spoke about a new treatment being introduced to KX called the Bowen Technique. It helps to release stress held by the body which I could certainly do with! The detox has been a really eye opening experience so far and the spa treatment today has really capped it off.
