KX Recovery Shots at Survival Of The Fittest

As the main fitness sponsor at Men’s Health Survival Of The Fittest we needed to put together a great tasting, nutritious recovery drink for the competitors to consume after completing the gruelling 10k obstacle course.

We consulted with KX Naturopath & Nutritionist Rhian Stephenson and KX Head Chef Alessandro Verdenelli to create our signature brand KX Recovery Shots, which were handed out to all 12,000 ‘Survivors’ as they finished the race.

Ingredients:

Raspberry, beetroot, coconut seed, branched chain amino acids, guarana

Benefits:

Raspberry is a potent antioxidant and also contains raspberry ketones, which have been proven to aid in fat metabolism and support energy production.

Coconut is full of medium chain triglycerides (MCT), a type of fat that the body uses as fuel. MCT’s are rapidly absorbed by the body and can quickly produce immediate energy.

Beetroot is known as being one of the best ways to naturally boost stamina and enhance physical performance. It supplies the body with Nitric Oxide, which improves blood flow, energy delivery, and endurance.

Branched Chain Amino Acids: branched chain amino acids are essential amino acids that are metabolized directly in the muscle, compared to the other amino acids that need to be metabolized by the liver first. They have been shown to increase muscular strength, endurance, energy, and physical performance.
Guarana is a natural stimulant that is used to reduce fatigue & improve physical performance. It is a rich source of caffeine, theophylline, and throbromine, which are central nervous system stimulants.

Benefits to having the shot warm:

A cold drink would cause the stomach to constrict (vasoconstriction), and the body needs to burn calories to warm it up before it can be used. Warm drinks are more readily absorbed by the body as they don’t cause constriction of the blood vessels. It also helped our competitors keep warm in the brutal conditions!

0.15g BCAA
0.15g guarana
