The Wonderland Dinner

Borne would like to invite KX members to join them at The Wonderland Dinner, an inspirational fundraising evening hosted by Rory Bremner at The Hurlingham Club on November the 6th, to support this groundbreaking initiative between Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity and the maternity team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Borne’s goal is to prevent disability and death in childbirth and create lifelong health for mothers and babies.

Featuring a cocktail reception by Tony Conigliaro, dinner designed by Michelin Star Chef Georgio Locatelli, musical entertainment from Take That’s Mark Owen and Scouting for Girls, a surprise organised by London’s’ infamous Bompas and Parr – plus guest speaker Ronni Ancona and a silent auction – The Wonderland Dinner is an event not to be missed; and the proceeds from the dinner will go a long way towards ensuring that mothers and babies worldwide are protected from the effects of premature birth.

KX are sponsoring the glamorous event, as Managing Director James Fry feels passionately about supporting this worthy cause,

“As Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the work of Borne are both apart of our local, national and international community; I knew from the moment that the KX member introduced me to Borne that I wanted to do all I could to support the charity and the wonderful team involved. With KX about to launch a range of classes and services specifically tailored to pregnancy supporting Borne’s 2013 Wonderland Dinner could not have happened at a more appropriate time. KX and Borne’s dedication to excellence and providing care and support to women and babies pre, during and post pregnancy make us ideal partners, and we could not be more proud to support them as this year’s sponsor.”

Premature birth accounts for over 70% of long term disability in newborn babies. In the UK 1 in 10 babies are born too soon. Borne aims to improve pregnancy outcomes the world over through research and education. Borne was founded by Professor Mark Johnson Consultant in Obstetrics at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital together with Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity.
Borne is the first initiative of its kind in the UK. In just a few years time teams from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital could change the long term health prospects of hundreds of thousands of children and their families in the UK and overseas. Borne, has gathered together a group of scientists, obstetricians, neonatologists and paediatricians in the search for how best to prevent premature birth, and how to protect the baby from harm both in the womb and after birth. What they discover may be the difference between life and death for 2,000 babies in the UK every year and will benefit up to 50,000 mothers and newborns across the world.

Initial funding of £1,900,000 would create an international legacy of mother and baby health that would last for many generations, saving and improving millions of lives.
